Tope Rope and Lead Belay Certification Test

Anyone that wants to climb and belay on our top rope and lead routes must pass a test.

If you’re looking to get Top-Rope or Lead certified, we’re no longer requiring scheduled tests, all tests will be performed on a first come first serve basis. A climbing partner is recommended.

We require that all belayers use an Assisted-Braking Belay Device or ABD.
*approved ABDs listed below.

Only Greater Heights provided lead ropes are allowed to be used in the facility.

After passing your test you’ll receive a top belay tag which must be displayed on your harness at all times. Please note that climbers must be 14 years or older to get top-rope belay certified, and 16 years or older for lead certification.

*Climbers under the age of 14 are able to climb top rope if belayed and tied in by someone who holds an active top rope certification at Greater Heights.
